‘If I train really, really hard I’ll be able to get there.’
‘If I train really, really hard I’ll be able to get there.’ I said to the Reporter. I’d made the decision. I was going to the Sydney 2000 Paralympics and I was going to win a gold medal in the 100m freestyle.
I look back at that moment with such gratitude, this gorgeous 12-year-old had no idea what it would take to get there. But she believed in her ability to make her dreams a reality.
Years later, I did make the team. But for the 400m freestyle and I didn’t win a gold medal, but broke a national record in my classification. It was incredible, living in the village and experiencing what it was like to be a world-class athlete.
Four years after Sydney, I tried out for Athens 2004, but missed out on the team by .03 of a second in the 400m freestyle (I had a wardrobe malfunction in my race…yes, my bathers split).
Then, I retired, started my business and created new dreams and goals for myself. One of those dreams, creating a six-figure and beyond business. I’ve been in the biz for 11 years, had some huge successes and have hit some incredible numbers. But now I want to achieve more, because I know I can. I’ve always been highly driven.
But, right now, I’m not yet where I want to be for myself, for the impact I believe I can create in the world and as a woman with a disability. I want more. I want to win gold at my Bizlympics.
While I was watching the Olympics a few weeks back I had this epiphany…why don’t I just treat my business like I’m training for the Paralympics?! I know what that takes and I know I can do that, I can achieve with that as my guide.
So, Bizlympics was born! Watch me make the Bizlympics, in mind, business and body. Watch my life transform as I begin the next biggest training regime of my life - retraining my mind for world-class success.
I will not stop for 12 months. At 12 months, I’ll assess if I am still on my way to gold at My Bizlympics - the million-dollar biz. I will use mindset, action and body and ‘train’ towards this goal, this means, daily training (some days morning and night), keeping a diary on how I’m feeling and where I’m at as the business grows, visualisation, mindset and magic to make this my reality, and I’ll document it all for you, sharing my progress at least once a week for 52 weeks (you gotta start somewhere).
Why? You ask. Because I love to challenge myself, because I love following training plans, and because when I hit my financial biz goal, I know I will have created an incredible impact in the world of people with disabilities and for the clients, I am working with.
Each week, I will blog or vlog my training adventure. To follow join here and on www.instagram.com/iamellesteele
